I shoot and edit videos for social media, often on short notice and with same-day turn-around. The examples below were while working as an employee of Ramsey County.

BACKGROUND

Ramsey County hosts or partners with other agencies for a variety of media events. These range from opening new Tuj Lub courts at a county park to the launch of a new Amtrak service connecting St. Paul, Milwaukee and Chicago. The county uses same-day social media posts to help drive awareness of these events across all media channels.

RESULTS

I’ve produced Ramsey County’s most viewed videos for 2024 and 2025 and also the most viewed video for Ramsey County Parks & Recreation which has its own social media channels. I’ve noticed a consistent pattern in what performs well, and these videos have engagement that is 10 to 100 times higher than average (typically 250-1,000 views). Starting with the announcement of the METRO Bronze Line with over 9k views.

To the first run of the METRO Gold Line with over 15k views.

Then a demonstration at the opening of new Tuj Lub courts with over 19k views.

And finally to the first run of the Borealis train services with over 70k views.

Videos that tell a story simply and clearly perform the best. And while short-form videos aren’t the best tool for every situation, they’re very effective at generating awareness, the initial stage of engagement that helps drive deeper interest and interaction.

I can do more complex editing, sound mixing, graphics and effects, as shown in my work for other clients. But my experience and insight gives me the ability to simplify complex stories, and ultimately that’s what makes them most effective for this audience.
